So this year I decided to invest in some additional help. I want to thank my moving crew. Without them this move wouldn't have been possible. My red hand truck has been a trusty and reliable companion for several years now. My blue flat truck hasn't been with me as long but comes in handy with those bulky items, aka couch and mattress. May I introduce the newest member to my moving crew, the DeWalt Yellow Electric Stair Climbing Hand Truck. I cannot say enough about it. It lasted longer than I did on each and every day and I have only had it on the charger once. It's ease of use and adaptability was reassuring. There are a couple of tweaks I will most likely add, but overall, it was worth the investment. I will definitely get many years of use out of the ole girl.

My return window was quickly approaching but I really didn't want to return it, I only wanted a working product. I reached out to the seller on Amazon and they were very responsive and after another few weeks, a package from China arrived, this time containing a battery; I installed it and the machine works perfectly.
I do a fair amount of repair work on hifi gear, particularly tube amplifiers, I'm getting old enough that lugging large and heavy amps up and down the stairs to shop is not fun. I had one ready to ship, using the stair climber, it was nothing to get it up the stairs and ready for the shipper.
While it took a while, the seller was super helpful and did get me a working battery. If you have problems, I suggest contacting the Amazon seller and not the emails listed in the manual.
I took off one star for the two months required to get a working unit, but I'm very happy this all turned out well.
First, it's easy to fold and unfold. As soon as I took it out of the package, I flipped the base down and pulled the handle up and it was ready to go. It's compact, super lightweight and fits easily in the car.
As far as it holding up to 165lbs., I wouldn't push it. Today, I had to collect 4 boxes of dumbbells at 30 lbs each (120lbs total)- perfect opportunity to test the sturdiness of the hand truck without stressing it past its limits. First the boxes were not large, but they took up most of the base. I struggled to get the dolly on its wheels and get the boxes out to the car without toppling. It was at this point that the handle felt a little flimsy to me. You need to make sure it's fully locked out, but even then, I could feel the stress on the frame. I managed to get the weights out to the car without incident, but I really wouldn't try to use this for anything much over 100lbs.
For light duty lifting, this is a big help.... think those boxes of assemble yourself furniture or anything else where you need assistance, but it has its limits. It felt a bit overloaded at 45 lbs lower than it's claimed to be rated for and the item can't be too large.
Unfortunately for why I got the product, it maybe not work. I am in the process of making a bicycle bag for air flights that I can check in. I thought having one of these in the bag would help me carry the bag thru the destination airport. Now knowing how heavy it is, it may push the weight limit of "sport equipment, oversized" limit.
It's not great for moving large or heavy boxes for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the bottom plate is thin aluminum which isn't super strong, so it could snap off under a lot of weight. Secondly, the handle doesn't extend very far so there isn't as much leverage for tipping back heavy items. And for larger items (heavy or not), in order to get the weight centered over the wheels, it needs to tipped back farther so the shorter handle ends up close to the ground and not comfortable to move because you would need to bend over while moving.
But for it's purpose as a lightweight hand truck for lighter and smaller items, it works well.
This easily is removed from the car, and smoothly rolls wherever needed.! It would make a great holiday gift!
It was good for light weight stuff imo.
The ease of folding/unfolding is great.
I tried contacting their customer support. No contact whatsoever for a long time. Also all the instructions were written in almost unreadable broken English. It doesn't cost that much to hire a competent translator. It makes your company look very unprofessional.
After getting in touch with their customer support, and telling them my issue, they promptly resolved the issue for me. I was actually very impressed.
I can't quite give them a perfect score because of the initial issues.
