1 - it is SIGNIFICANTLY quieter than any unit I've previously had, including the Roomba and Ecovac Deboot, ESPECIALLY the self empty!!!
2 - It maps beautifully, I only had to do it once for the bottom half of my home. My floorplan includes a sunken living room and then another step down to the den.
2b - it easily found and uses the ramps between levels successfully EVERY time. My Deboot NEVER did this correctly. It constantly got stuck or lost. If I bypassed the ramp and sat it on the level manually, the Deboot would get confused and not move. The Rovorock can handle the movement with no issue (my Roomba could as.well).
3 - it cleaned the carpets wonderfully and picked up pretty much every cat hair (I used my Dyson right after and the bin was almost empty. Very different than my Roomba)
4 - my carpets - even the edges - stay dry
5 - it has yet to tangle
7 - it has handled every floor surface (I have two types of tile including a ruatic Italian that looks like cobblestone, hard wood, and carpet)
8 - I LOVE the SmartPlan option. Once you map your home, name your rooms, and select your floor surface, Smartplan uses that data and the dirtiness levels of your room to determine cleaning process. In the beginning, I didn't understand how it worked, but now I do. Then unit has multiple water levels, cleaning patterns and vacume suction levels. Instead of you selecting those for each cleaning, you select SmartPlan. Then while cleaning the room, SmartPlan adjusts each option based upon the the cleaning. For example it does my kitchen every night. The first night I saw (via the completed cleaning map) where it did a cross hatched cleaning in front of counter tops, single in the middle of the floor, as well as some spot cleaning. That made sense since the perimeters in front of my counters is where I work the most. I thought night 2 would be the same. However night two, it did slightly different and cleaned heavily in front of the area where I did a lot of food prep for dinner. Day 3, I cleaned my fridge, and that night it did extra in front of the fridge. Mind you, in each instance, I could not see any visible differences on the floor, but the machine can. My kitchen floor literally sparkles, ans so so the others.
With SmarrPlan, I can hear the unit adjusting as it cleans, heavier suction of vacum if needed and other areas it's almost silent because it needs less suction or it focuses on mopping. SmartPlan really takes the guesswork out of the process and let's the robot do the work intelligently. With the schedules, it is basically worry free other than watching the tanks and dust bin.
I am really REALLY pleased with this little unit. Although I've only had it a little over a week, it has satisfactorily done every room in the bottom half of my home which has 3 different levels as mentioned above. Seriously considering a second one for the upper level.
If you read all of this, thank you letting me wax poetic about a darn robot 😌
Here is my honest opinion. Just a regular home owner, passing on the good and bad, as I personally really appreciate people taking time to post a thorough review when I’m trying to decide which to buy, especially for something that isn’t inexpensive. I would give this a 4.5 if that were an option. It is almost perfect, especially at it’s price point. The only single complaint I have is the vacuum part doesn’t quite get all the dirt. To be fair, we have 4 dogs and a cat, who all have access to a dog door that leads into the main portion of our house, AND we live on a dirt road, so we probably have a lot more small particles to pick up than the average household. The only reason I even have the expectation that a robot vacuum should be able to handle that much dirt is that I have a now 7 year old roomba 960 (one of their 2nd or 3rd generation, basic robots) that will pick up every grain of dirt, even along the edges, so I know it’s possible. That one decided it could no longer navigate my whole house every night, which is how we use our main robot vacuum, so it got to retire to just our bedroom during the day, and still does the same excellent job getting up dirt, as long as I keep the rollers and side brush replaced as needed. No roomba I have tried since then has been as capable and Roomba doesn’t use the lidar navigation, which is why we’ve branched out as we like to vacuum while we are sleeping. So, back to this Roborock Qrevo S. The two main negatives in the reviews, you tube videos, etc was that it doesn’t do edge mopping and it’s obstacle avoidance isn’t the best. This is well documented so I wouldn’t take any points off for that, since I knew that going in. I’m careful to keep cords, toys, and other things picked up, none of my animals use the bathroom in the house, and I like to scrub my baseboards occasionally and can easily wipe along the edges of the floors then. So, for me, this was an acceptable compromise for the price point. However, after using this thing, vacuum and mop, once or twice per day for four days, and still feeling grit on the floor immediately after it has completed a whole house run, on the highest suction settings, set to vacuum each room two times, I’ve decided to send it back. I feel like I gave it a good chance to prove what it can do. I originally wanted to try it over more time, since I still have two months to send it back. Considering I had vacuumed the whole house the evening before I set this thing up, had deep cleaned under and behind all the furniture for Thanksgiving guests, and had done a very thorough manual mopping 5 days before, (with a grout brush and a regular industrial mop, rinsing each area until the “dirty” water was clear), I think after approximately 6 runs over 4 days, it was probably at the top of it’s capabilities for our home. I would rather go ahead, clean it up, and send it back before it is harder to clean and maybe wouldn’t look as new, so someone else can receive a “used” vacuum in good condition and be happy to have it. I am upgrading from another robot vacuum that ran every single night as well, so our floors just aren’t THAT dirty. As you can tell, I am very picky about cleanliness, lol!!
Okay, now for the good points. The app was very easy to set up, even for a not so tech savvy user such as myself. I did have to google one thing that I didn’t see in the user manual or quick start guide, but the answer was easy to find. (FYI: I’d wanted to know how to delete a routine once you’d created it. You just had to close the app and reopen it. It then gave an option to delete.)
The mopping is really, really good. First, the dirty water was dirty, so obviously the mop is getting up something. Second, there were some spots in the kitchen of various dried liquids from all the cooking over Thanksgiving that I purposely left to see how this thing would do. It took several moppings but it got all of that up. Then, the whole rinsing the mop pads every 15 minutes, as well as rinsing and then drying them at the end, have the mop pads completely clean and dry so no yucky smells and no need to change out mop pads daily such as with older models. Another thing, despite that my house obviously has literal dirt on the floor, the on board dirt/dust bin is perfectly clean inside and the dust bag in the base definitely has dirt, fur, dust, etc in it. I feel like over time this feature would certainly help the filter stay cleaner, which in turn, as we all know, will allow the suction to remain stronger. One random thing to note: There was never any fur in the dirty mop water or left on the mop pads, or the cleaning tray under the mop pads. There is fur in the dirt collection bag. There was, however, dirt in the dirty water and also fine dirt in the mop cleaning tray. I would say this is a good indication that the vacuum was picking up all the fur and larger dirt particles, but incapable of suctioning up the finer dirt.
Our house is 1300 square feet. Set at medium water usage for the hardwoods (half of the house), max water usage on the rest of the house, going back to rinse the mop pads every 15 minutes, AND doing each room twice, the water bins would last through two full house routines. You probably wouldn’t want the dirty water to sit for more than two or three days anyway, so I’d say that was pretty good.
Another HUGE plus is how quiet this thing is. It dried pads for 3 hours after each run but you could barely hear it, unless you got close and focused on it. Emptying the on board dust bin into the larger bag in the base makes some noise but significantly less than our previous robot vacuum. My cat says thank you for that!
I cannot comment on carpet or rugs because I don’t have carpet or area rugs and pick up the throw rugs every evening so the vacuum can vacuum under them. I’ve done that for years, so nothing to do with this particular vacuum.
Anyway, overall, I think this is still an excellent vacuum for it’s price and in a home with a little less outside dirt, it would be perfect. I hope this review is helpful in your quest for the perfect robot vacuum for your situation!
- Better mapping and cleaning than my previous higher end robot vacuum from a popular brand
- Quiet operation
- Customizable cleaning settings, routines, and obstacle avoidance
- Heat drying so the mop pads don’t smell
- Easy to fill and empty water tanks
- Easy to change the bag and mop heads
- Maintenance notifications for brushes, sensors, and filters
- Connects to Alexa
- Comes with an extra bag
- Great value
Cons:
- Not great for carpet cleaning if you have pets who shed often
- My previous vacuum notified me when it was time to change the bag, this one does not
- Cleaning solution is a bit expensive, other solutions void the warranty
- Initial setup was difficult with connectivity issues (tip: if it won’t connect to your phone, turn off cellular data so there’s no lapse when the WiFi channels switch. Mine wouldn’t connect until I tried that)
- Learning curve with the app
I bought this particular combo on a whim when I saw it was on sale. I’ve wanted a robot vacuum/mop combo for a while but couldn’t justify spending a lot on one. I had my eye on a much more expensive model thinking I’d save for a big sale when I saw this one. I figured I’d at least try it. I love it! It maps and cleans my apartment better than my previous robot vacuum and my house always smells fresh.
I have a dog that sheds a lot even with daily brushing and I noticed this isn’t great on carpet for picking up fur. I’ve set it to skip my room entirely and I just use my stick vacuum in that area. I think this would be fine for carpet in households with no pets or maybe pets who seldom shed because it does have good suction power. I run this every other day and my hard floors stay so clean.
I mentioned that other cleaning solutions void the warranty. I bought the brand’s Omo solution. It’s expensive but a little bit really does go a long way and helps prevent bacteria growth. Make sure to read the directions so you don’t use too much! I’ve seen others say they use water only and it works great for them, but I’ve always used solution so I can’t speak to that. It doesn’t come with a silver ion module but I highly recommend buying one for it. It keeps the water from smelling bad and reduces the chance of mold too. I ordered one off Amazon and there’s a spot in the clean water tank to just snap it into. It looks like a weird little rectangle on the bottom. The module lasts a year. I’d recommend emptying both water tanks at least once a month, if not more.
I’m relatively tech savvy and this took a little bit of time to get the vacuum connected and learn how to customize the settings. It’s not hard, it just takes a bit to find everything and remember where stuff is. I do really like that it is so customizable though.
Overall, I really like this and definitely recommend it. It has a lot of great features for the price.
It gets a 4 star rating only because the Bluetooth pairing to my home network as a pain. Make sure you read my tip of going into airplane mode to set it up.
Pro
* It does a great job mapping the house. It did have some issue because I have some wonky corners and lots of dimension to my rooms (ie - it’s not a square room. Lots of angled walls)
* I liked the way it cleaned my floors and carpets. The mopping feature is great.
* Decent instructional videos on YouTube
* I like how I can setup invisible walls, rooms and zones
* Ability to spot clean is a great feature
* Basically a set it and let its do its job product.
Con
* Support center is useless. I sent an email for additional support and a week later (during a work week) no response. A month later - still no response.
* A total pain to connect to the internet. Instructions suck. If you have a router that’s both 5 GHz and 2.4GHz, try disabling the 5 to connect
* I still couldn’t get it to connect to the internet even after disabling my 5 GHz network until I went into airplane mode on my iPhone. Keep that in mind if you have issues. (Not sure how this hack would work with Android phones tho)
* Videos on their website were non-existent.
* Instruction manual is lame. It doesn’t tell you how to setup zones or rooms. (I finally figured it out by poking around, but it’s not super intuitive)
* The personal vendetta MY DOG has for this roaming alien in our house is on a whole different level. He’s bound and determined to hold it hostage, and his sheer determination could rival any super powers in this world and beyond.
Fourth robot vacuum I’ve owned in about 7 years. First was cheap coredy with no mapping features. Did fine for small apartment.
Next was Wyze robot vacuum. Neat LiDAR mapped out my house and made sure to get every inch. That is until it started losing maps, not recognizing the map if a chair wasn’t tucked in or bag of dog food a few feet to the left. After receiving a replacement for a busted feature (that took 6 months btw) the new robot took 6 attempts to locate the map on the 2nd run of the day and unfortunately ran into a little accident that ended its robot life.
This lead me to a shark vacuum. Same issues as before. Returned it within 30 days.
Told myself I’m not falling for under $400 robot vacuums again. After significantly more research than I ever cared to do, and thanks to a large discount that seems to be the lowest price of the year (according to camel camel camel) I bought roboroc.
It’s great. Small dust bin which is not an issue if you break your rooms up into smaller sections. 6 cats and 2 dogs means it’s going to need to run twice a day every day. Mopping feature is truly exceptional. Gross cleaning out the dirty water tank but fully satisfying.
The only thing keeping it from 5 stars in my opinion is the noise. I hoped to catch a video of me pulling out a tiny piece of cardboard, or plastic, or single piece of dog food to cause the noise in the recording, But nothing. Watch me disassemble to find the culprit only for nothing to be there. Of course when I flip it back over and start it’s quiet as can be.
Major nuisance working from home hearing what sounds like a motorcycle going 20mph right next to you. Great job cleaning and mopping though!
It returns to the dock multiple times while mopping the floor to clean the mop heads which is awesome.
I wish would also empty the robot dust bin before or after cleaning the mop heads before it resumes cleaning.
Our home is approximately 1900 square feet. We have two house cats. We run the robot using the vacuum & mop cycle once a week.
When the dust bin on the robot is full, there is no alarm, alert or notification. In other words; if the dust bin is full during the cleaning cycle, the robot is just pushing dirt around.
I have found it caked with dust, dirt, cat hair etc. in the middle of the cleaning cycle. I
It was only pushing dust, dirt, cat hair etc. around.
In that condition, it isn't capable of emptying itself at the docking station.
My advise is to check the dust bin on the robot periodically during the cleaning cycle and empty manually when necessary. Also don't forget to empty the dirty mop water container. If left too long, it stinks!
It is extremely frustrating to make a purchase of this $$$, receive a defective product, and lose money on having the company correct its errors. I provided this feedback to the company and received no response.
Due to renovations, I only just started using the new robot. So far so good. I will update after time goes by.
UPDATE 11/11: since posting, customer service contacted me and covered the cost of shipping for the repairs as discussed above. I appreciate that effort and have therefore increased my rating.
First time, bought refurbished from roborock via eBay. Failed after a couple of weeks because of battery issues. Got full refund after returning item.
Second time, bought from roborock store via Amazon. Worked for three months before a known unfixable error "robot and dock communication fail. Clean communication sensor". Opened ticket with roborock in the hope of returning the item or fixing this issue.
Past roborock vacuums I have used lasted 3+ years without problems except battery change. New roborock products though feature rich are of poor quality due to such issues I am facing. Mop failure, dock failure, battery failure etc. I hope the roborock company doesn't sacrifice quality by introducing poorly tested features.
[Update - Dec 23]
Roborock replaced the faulty unit and extended the warranty to Dec 2025. Also got $50 for my troubles.
For this, I am changing to 4 star for the excellent customer service. I was also offered full refund, but I really like roborock vacuums and wanted a replacement instead with the hope that the faulty unit was an outlier from their you usually good long lasting products.
Let me preface this review by saying we have 5 cats and 1 dog. Our floors are wood floor with a few area rugs sprinkled in some rooms. this robot is very quiet when working on just wood floors. it is a bit louder when working on carpet as it seems to kit into high gear when doing so. the mopping feature is amazing for the wood or tiled floors. I wouldn’t say this mopping feature removed your need to mop, but it greatly reduces how often you could mop. Maybe you could mop 2x a year with a good cleaning solution.
This robot runs for us at least once a day if not more. it have saved me hours of work per week.
If I could have one complaint, it would be that the dust bin portion requires bag replacements. For that alone I give it -1 star. If they could fix that I would consider this product perfect.
I don't know if there is any additional setting I have to use to fix this issue. Otherwise, I would have to clear the rugs for this cleaner to work, which would be a significant inconvenience. Later, cleaning the bathroom rugs separately with my Dyson would also be a pain. Bathroom rugs are the ones in my house that need more frequent vacuums. I am still debating whether to keep it or return it..?
Update - Support was responsive and helped me adjust a few settings; it's doing better now. They also said there would be continuous improvements through software updates (like my Tesla), so I decided to keep it.
Only negatives.... 1st is would say are it does an OK job (not good) on our rugs (muddy Mats) but we purchased it for the vinyl otherwise can deal with that. Using our old Sharp vacuum afterwards does pull a lot of dirt and hair from the rugs. Only other negative is no where on the directions or the clean water tank shows how much cleaner to put in it. Directions say to fill to fill line but can't see a fill line anywhere. I had to look at bottle of the cleaner and then estimate how much water goes in the tank to come up with how much cleaner to add. other thing is you think for spending this much it would at least come with a sample of the cleaner.
The mop feature is nice to have, but it's not replacement for doing it yourself; this is more like rubbing a damp towel on the floor. As for the vacuum, it's not perfect; it's missed some small debris that baffles me how it could have missed; but overall I'd say the vacuum part is good.
I got mine on a big sale, and I would recommend you do too. At full price it's not worth that much.
Con: you can’t have wires laying around, rugs that move get bought,
It really doesn't do well with long hair, which is a real problem considering that's what I have an abundance of. Already had to cut out my hair from the sides of the roller.
It also has a bit of an issue with 2 shedding labs and the absolute crapton of hair that they put out. I always have to come behind the vacuum and vacuum to get clumps of dog hair.
And the biggest complaint I have is that I can't schedule the cleaning in the app. This should be a standard feature imo, but I find the app lacking.
