Fourth robot vacuum I’ve owned in about 7 years. First was cheap coredy with no mapping features. Did fine for small apartment.
Next was Wyze robot vacuum. Neat LiDAR mapped out my house and made sure to get every inch. That is until it started losing maps, not recognizing the map if a chair wasn’t tucked in or bag of dog food a few feet to the left. After receiving a replacement for a busted feature (that took 6 months btw) the new robot took 6 attempts to locate the map on the 2nd run of the day and unfortunately ran into a little accident that ended its robot life.
This lead me to a shark vacuum. Same issues as before. Returned it within 30 days.
Told myself I’m not falling for under $400 robot vacuums again. After significantly more research than I ever cared to do, and thanks to a large discount that seems to be the lowest price of the year (according to camel camel camel) I bought roboroc.
It’s great. Small dust bin which is not an issue if you break your rooms up into smaller sections. 6 cats and 2 dogs means it’s going to need to run twice a day every day. Mopping feature is truly exceptional. Gross cleaning out the dirty water tank but fully satisfying.
The only thing keeping it from 5 stars in my opinion is the noise. I hoped to catch a video of me pulling out a tiny piece of cardboard, or plastic, or single piece of dog food to cause the noise in the recording, But nothing. Watch me disassemble to find the culprit only for nothing to be there. Of course when I flip it back over and start it’s quiet as can be.
Major nuisance working from home hearing what sounds like a motorcycle going 20mph right next to you. Great job cleaning and mopping though!
I don't know if there is any additional setting I have to use to fix this issue. Otherwise, I would have to clear the rugs for this cleaner to work, which would be a significant inconvenience. Later, cleaning the bathroom rugs separately with my Dyson would also be a pain. Bathroom rugs are the ones in my house that need more frequent vacuums. I am still debating whether to keep it or return it..?
Update - Support was responsive and helped me adjust a few settings; it's doing better now. They also said there would be continuous improvements through software updates (like my Tesla), so I decided to keep it.
