The specs and features seemed impressive compared to my old Q5+: auto mop washing and self-drying (my Q5+ has no mopping feature), 7000Pa suction (my Q5+ is only 2700Pa), obstacle avoidance (which the Q5+ lacks), ultrasonic carpet sensing (not available on the Q5+), quieter operation (63dB vs. 67dB), and new features like the ability to lift the mops by 10mm when encountering carpet and spinning them at 2,000 rpm while cleaning floors. Having never owned a mopping robovac before, I was excited to put this one through its paces.
After unboxing (it was very well packaged), I set up the Qrevo S with my existing Roborock app running on my Google Pixel 8 Pro (Android, app version 4.36.10). Upon powering up the Qrevo S and launching the app, it automatically detected the unit and guided me through connecting it to my home Wi-Fi. This, however, is where I ran into an issue: it wouldn’t connect to my home Wi-Fi. It turns out — and this is documented — that the Qrevo S (and most, if not all, of Roborock’s robovac products) doesn’t support 5 GHz Wi-Fi; it only works on 2.4 GHz. In this day and age (it’s almost the year 2025), it's disappointing to find the lack of 5 GHz Wi-Fi support. I had to temporarily disable the 5 GHz radio on my router just to complete the initial Wi-Fi setup. Once completed, I re-enabled 5 GHz on my router, and the Qrevo S continued working fine. It's not a deal breaker, but still annoying nonetheless.
Once the unit was connected to my home network, the next step was to map out the home's floor plan via the “quick mapping” feature, where the robovac roams around the house, mapping the layout and rooms. For my home, where the Qrevo S was placed on the first floor, it quickly mapped the floor plan in about 15 minutes. That was quick, compared to my old Q5+. Using the app, you can edit the floor plan by adding, deleting or merging rooms and renaming them, but I found the process somewhat finicky and, at times, frustrating. This isn't a hardware issue but rather a limitation of the app (in this case, Android). There is a certain trick to creating rooms (by adding dividing lines), and sometimes you need to “think outside the box” when placing the dividing lines to separate rooms, which may require multiple attempts. Again, this isn’t a hardware problem, and hopefully the app will improve over time.
How did the Qrevo S perform as a robovac? Impressive, especially compared to the Q5+. As mentioned, I’ve never had a robovac with a mop before, and it did a commendable job mopping the hardwood floors and vacuuming carpets. What impressed me most were two features: its ability to automatically stop spinning the mops and slightly raise them when detecting carpets (even high-pile carpets) and its "Reactive Tech" obstacle avoidance technology. The latter was able to detect Murphy’s (our dog) ball/toy in its path, note it on the map/app, and avoid it. I have attached photos as proof. LiDAR-based navigation is standard. The unit also supports multiple floor mappings (up to four floors), but for now, I have it set up for just the main floor.
When the robovac finished its cleaning cycle, it automatically found its way back to its multifunctional dock and initiated its docking sequence. Once docked, it began the self-cleaning process: washing and drying the mops, emptying the dustbin (330ml capacity), refilling the water tank on the robovac (80ml capacity) from the clean water bin if needed, and recharging the unit.
Summary:
Pros: Impressive robovac with automatic self-cleaning, mopping capability, LiDAR-based navigation, and obstacle avoidance.
Cons: Only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and editing the floor map in the app can sometimes be frustrating.
Have a Golden Retriever, so lot of fur (I mean, LOT) around the house. I had to personalized carefully the -cleaning- plan: vacuum + vacuum + mop, so the mops do not spread the dirty fur around the house. Now, I have scheduled some "daily plan" (vacuum + mop) around 3PM, so the house is a pretty much cleaner and it saves a lot of time for me. If you have pets, you just need to check that some fur roll up at the main brush and need to be removed from time to time.
Battery is OK. I mean, it cleans and then charges somehow quickly.
Vacuum it is pretty nice as you have like 5 power stages to choose from. I use the standard one for the daily clean up and the -max power- for deep cleaning.
I am not sure if you have better options by this price, but I got it at $459.99 and I am pretty satisfied. I was kind of scared that could end up arriving with a failured-part, but I think that could happen with anything you are buying. It think the [quality/time saving/price] balance worth it.
- What impressed me: the object avoidance is awesome. My dog is following and barking at the R2D2 all over the place and it avoids him and its toys without any problem.
- Something bad: A little bit noisy if you want to, for example, study while the R2D2 is cleaning, but nothing else.
I will update the review in a few months to tell you how the thing is going.
Fourth robot vacuum I’ve owned in about 7 years. First was cheap coredy with no mapping features. Did fine for small apartment.
Next was Wyze robot vacuum. Neat LiDAR mapped out my house and made sure to get every inch. That is until it started losing maps, not recognizing the map if a chair wasn’t tucked in or bag of dog food a few feet to the left. After receiving a replacement for a busted feature (that took 6 months btw) the new robot took 6 attempts to locate the map on the 2nd run of the day and unfortunately ran into a little accident that ended its robot life.
This lead me to a shark vacuum. Same issues as before. Returned it within 30 days.
Told myself I’m not falling for under $400 robot vacuums again. After significantly more research than I ever cared to do, and thanks to a large discount that seems to be the lowest price of the year (according to camel camel camel) I bought roboroc.
It’s great. Small dust bin which is not an issue if you break your rooms up into smaller sections. 6 cats and 2 dogs means it’s going to need to run twice a day every day. Mopping feature is truly exceptional. Gross cleaning out the dirty water tank but fully satisfying.
The only thing keeping it from 5 stars in my opinion is the noise. I hoped to catch a video of me pulling out a tiny piece of cardboard, or plastic, or single piece of dog food to cause the noise in the recording, But nothing. Watch me disassemble to find the culprit only for nothing to be there. Of course when I flip it back over and start it’s quiet as can be.
Major nuisance working from home hearing what sounds like a motorcycle going 20mph right next to you. Great job cleaning and mopping though!
I now have tried 3 different Roborock robots, the OG Q Revo (Last year's model) , Q Revo Pro and this Q Revo S.
They are all great robots which have saved me countless hours of boring, back causing pain of manual broom and mop house cleaning, if you have never used any, it will change your world, will make it so much more easier to keep your home clean.
I have a 2 story home with 2 cats, I run this robot every night, doing 1 day vacuum only and one day in vacuum / mop mode and there is a no shoe rule in my house, so my hole house is clean every day :)
I only run it only after I have returned from my job and double check there is no cat toys, or if by any chance there is any cat poop laying around as the object detection is not that good on any Q Revo model I have tried (The only one I have not tried is the Q Revo Master which does have a front camera, making me guess it has superior object detection) which is the reason I don't give it a full 5 stars, so make sure your house is clean of toys or cables on the ground as this might suck them up.
Pet or human hair is no problem as it has never become tangled, however I do check on the roller every few weeks to remove any hair tangled in there.
I use the cleaning solution on the clean water which makes the floor smell nice.
Now if you still have the original Q Revo, this are the upgrades over it:
- Mop washing tray is easier to clean.
- Suction power has been increased.
- Some older Q Revo had a water leaking issue, this has solved it.
- Not that noisy when emptying the dustbin.
If you need the extendable mop which will clean the corners of your house and furniture, get the Q Revo Pro which this model lacks, if you don't feel like you need that, get this and save a couple of Benjamin's.
This thing is amazing! We only mop our house once a month because this keeps up with the daily traffic on our tile so we don't have to keep our floors looking fresh. The battery lasts long enough to go over our floor twice and it will constantly go back and clean itself and then resume where it left off, super quiet, sometimes when she speaks you can't even tell.
Super easy to clean, we clean ours halfway through the month just to give it an extra deep clean. We only have to change the mop water out or refill it once a week.
Just look at the picture and you can see it in action and how great the mopping quality is! You can also see the size comparison next to our St Bernard. This little thing is definitely a huge benefit to have in our house with a family of four also, super impressed!
I don't know if there is any additional setting I have to use to fix this issue. Otherwise, I would have to clear the rugs for this cleaner to work, which would be a significant inconvenience. Later, cleaning the bathroom rugs separately with my Dyson would also be a pain. Bathroom rugs are the ones in my house that need more frequent vacuums. I am still debating whether to keep it or return it..?
Update - Support was responsive and helped me adjust a few settings; it's doing better now. They also said there would be continuous improvements through software updates (like my Tesla), so I decided to keep it.
First off, the suction is incredible. With 7000Pa power, it easily picks up dust, dirt, and pet hair from both hardwood and carpet. I was shocked at how clean our floors looked after just one run! The dual spinning mops are equally impressive, leaving no streaks and actually scrubbing off dried spills—something no previous mop vac we owned could do.
The self-emptying dock is a total game-changer. We literally don’t have to think about vacuuming or mopping for weeks since we have scheduled ours to go off daily. The hot air drying is such a thoughtful touch too—no musty smells and everything stays fresh. The auto mop lifting is genius; it seamlessly transitions from hard floors to carpets without dragging a wet mop behind.
What really impressed me, though, is the smart navigation. It maps out our entire home with incredible accuracy, avoids obstacles like cords and pet bowls, and the app lets us customize everything—from cleaning schedules to water flow levels. It's high-tech, but super user-friendly.
If you’re on the fence—get it. It’s an investment in a cleaner and an easier life. Worth every penny!
The spinning mops are incredibly effective—my floors haven’t looked this good since move-in day. The smart obstacle avoidance is also surprisingly good; it navigates like it’s been mapping my house for years. It’s not your typical hit and bounce off, it’s almost as if it can see things and avoids them without pause.
It’s sleek, incredible smart, efficient, and low-maintenance. If you want hands-off cleaning without sacrificing results, this vacuum is absolutely worth it.
Bottom line: If you’re on the fence, hop off and let the Qrevo handle the mess.
My office is a hot mess with lots of cords, but the vac went right around them without entanglement! And it has never run through a mess that my dogs dropped when I wasn't around! My only regret is that I didn't purchase it sooner! Love it!! Picks up dog hair, navigates around the island chairs and under the dining room chairs with ease! I plan to purchase a second unit for the basement to take care of my husband's man cave. This is a great product!
We work long shifts, have 2 dogs that shed with a dog door that allows little dirty dog feet to come in and out. This device allows us to come home everyday to a spotless floor due to being able to schedule run times.
I read all the reviews saying it doesn’t self empty’s all the way but I have to say, the Qrevo self empty’s and refills mop solution perfect. I mapped our home and created an invisible wall on every area/room to not go in and it NEVER gets stuck. We are mind blown by this device and recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have time to sweep and mop every day.
