Pros:
- the beautiful, large screen is perfect for multi-tasking, for example: texting somebody about a vacation destination and taking quick screenshots and sending it right to them on the other side of your screen
- The external cameras are an amazing improvement from last year, likely because Samsung tuned their auto-ai-whatever image processing.
- the foldable screen makes it it's own stand! YouTube even has a built in mode that turns the bottom half into the video controls!
- The springs don't drag it open or close like my flip, so I can stand it at almost any angle!
- materials make it feel premium! Samsung put a lot of effort into perfecting the foldable feeeling of quality. I also own an S24 ultra and they feel almost identical in terms of trust I have in the physical design and materials. Extremely well machined!
- using the outside screen doesn't feel terrible and cramped as I had expected. It's a lot like when I got my flip and thought it was weirdly tall, but I got used to it.
- ecosystem integration is finally to a point I can recommend people get everything Samsung, like the watch, ring, and tablets! Copy and paste works, if I need to open a message on my phone from my watch, I can immediately just open my phone, copy an OTP, etc.
Ehhh:
- Battery life is middling, it will last you all day, BUT with low-medium use. I am in a job where I use it around 4 hours a day and it struggles to be at even 20% at the end of my day.
- Samsung bloatware is Mostly removable, I miss my pixel phones with completely uninstallable to no bloatware. I hate that we have non-uninstallabke bloatware like AR camera or Bixby (Google assistant FTW)
Cons:
- app support is getting closer to being more widespread but still not where it needs to be, some apps have issues with both the external and internal display ratios, whether it be too skinny to display things, or too wide to display things properly.
- front/internal camera is terrible, it is taking a picture through the screen, but it is simply unacceptably bad
- Brightness of the screen is not enough for outdoor use. I went to a local restaurant today and noticed I could barely see the screen with extra brightness enabled in overcast weather.
Overall 8.5/10
TL:DR
Physical design is impeccable, however software support and battery life hold it back from being what Samsung envisions: the perfect compact phone. 8.5/10
- There are Pros and Cons of other folding screen phones, but it all depends on what you are used to and if your technical background prepares you for major changes you'll face when switching platforms. For a lot of people, once they've made the time commitment to go thru the learning curve to become functional the often aren't amenable to making a new time investment to switch, so they stay with the platform they are use to.
- I've lived in Tech from mainframe days and across most every conceivable new Tech since, so for me exploring/learning new Tech is "business as usual" - an extension of many of my past jobs (I've worked for a number of manufactures in new product design and first use roll-out and to discuss details with others meant they needed to execute a NDA). But for most others (MOST - not all), I expect they want what takes the least effort. When people ask me "what should I get?" unless they have demonstrable technical ability I'll usual recommend "what do your friend have - unless you want to be alone on an Island, you'd best stay with the flock so you have others to ask when you need help".
The engineering is remarkable - having two devices in one is genuinely exciting. When folded, it's a usable (though thick) phone for quick tasks, and unfolded, it transforms into a mini tablet perfect for reading, editing, and multitasking with multiple apps.
However, practical concerns outweigh my enthusiasm. The device's bulk in my pocket is a constant reminder of its presence, and as someone who often wears fitted clothing, I've found myself constantly adjusting how I carry it. The premium price point, while justified for the technology, is difficult to rationalize given that I primarily use the unfolded screen during commutes and occasional document editing. Additionally, my active lifestyle with frequent outdoor activities and gym sessions demands a more durable device I can use without constant worry.
While I'm genuinely excited about where foldable technology is heading, I've learned that my ideal phone needs to prioritize durability and simplicity over the impressive flexibility of a folding display.
Going from a single screen phone to this amazing multi screen foldable was to me night and day. My vision is not the best so I normally get the larger screen phones to assist in that regard. Not counting all the other features that I am loving, just being able to flip open the phone into a much larger tablet like screen is so helpful. Unless looking at the screen from an angle I can barely even notice the crease in the center of the foldable screen and as for touch its only noticeable when using an s-pen.
Coming from the Note 9 the front screen was a little narrower but not by much. This device doesn't have those beveled screen edges so you get more room for the actual screen. Having the the fingerprint scanner on the side makes it much easier to unlock single handedly as well.
As for the cameras, coming from an older model these things blow my mind. They can take such clear pictures even in lower light situations. There are three that come with this phone and each has there own boons.
The speed of the device is also a great improvement from my old phone. I am able to quickly navigate apps as well as play games without any issues. The device keeps up with multiple tasks running without any performance degradation.
Overall I am blown away with how this tech has advanced and loving this new device. I have only had this for a about a week so far and will update this review if anything changes.
Overall Impression: Z fold 6 is a clear winner
The Z fold connects to WiFi much faster, pulls higher down speeds and maintains a steadier connection
The Z fold offers a better gaming experience on the go
The Z fold is a little bulkier, however not as much as you would think for a phone that is also a tablet
The iPhone does offer a bit smoother of a transition between apps
Getting used to the switch has taken some time. Adding a case to the Z Fold does make it a bit bulkier than it already is, but with the price, I wouldn’t chance not having a case.
The phone lacks a storage spot for an S pen so you will need a case if you want to use the S pen with the Fold 6.
Overall, I am glad I switched and can’t wait to see what else this phone can offer
Build Quality & Design:
The hardware is phenomenal. Samsung has made the Fold 6 thinner, lighter, and more balanced in-hand than any previous generation. The hinge feels tight and precise with zero wobble. Opening and closing the device is satisfying, and it now folds completely flat—finally. You can tell Samsung has refined the materials here. The outer display is more usable with a better aspect ratio (finally less narrow), and the inner display crease is less noticeable, both visually and to the touch.
Displays:
The screens are bright, vibrant, and sharp, as expected from Samsung. The outer 6.3" AMOLED display runs at 120Hz and feels just like a flagship phone in its own right. The 7.6" main display is a productivity dream—fluid, colorful, and great for multitasking, reading, and media. Watching videos or working on documents in landscape mode feels like using a small tablet. It supports S Pen (sold separately), and for note-taking or light sketching, it works flawlessly.
Performance:
Powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy and 12GB of RAM, this thing flies. App launches are instant, multitasking is seamless, and heavy tasks like photo editing or running DeX mode work without hiccups. Thermals are well-managed; even under load, the phone gets warm but never uncomfortably hot. Storage speeds are also top-tier (UFS 4.0), and everything feels incredibly responsive.
Software & AI Features:
One UI 6.1.1 with Android 14 is tuned nicely for the foldable form factor. Multi-window support is excellent, drag-and-drop between apps is intuitive, and task continuity (switching between outer and inner screens) is smooth. Samsung’s AI features like Note Assist, Transcript Summarize, and Interpreter are genuinely useful, especially for professionals. I wasn’t expecting to rely on these as much as I do, but they’re integrated well and don’t feel gimmicky.
Cameras:
Camera hardware isn’t dramatically changed from the S24 Ultra, but the results are consistent and high quality. The 50MP main shooter delivers excellent dynamic range and detail, even in challenging lighting. The 3x telephoto and 12MP ultrawide are solid, and the processing handles noise well. While it’s not trying to compete with DSLR-level performance, it’s more than enough for everyday use, and video quality (4K60) is flagship-grade.
Battery Life:
Battery life has been better than expected. With a 4,400mAh battery, I regularly get through a full day with 6–7 hours of screen-on time, even with a mix of video, messaging, and multitasking on the main display. Fast charging (wired and wireless) is reliable and reasonably quick. It's not an all-weekend battery, but for such a powerful, dual-screen device, it's excellent.
Final Verdict:
Samsung finally nailed it with the Fold 6. This isn’t just a tech demo anymore—it’s a fully capable flagship that offers real utility. Whether you're a power user, productivity geek, or just someone who wants cutting-edge hardware, this phone delivers. Yes, it’s expensive, and it’s not for everyone, but if you can take advantage of the screen real estate and multitasking features, it’s worth every penny.
No regrets here. This is the future of smartphones—and it’s already in my pocket.
Bless Amazon for running the promotional deals on Samsung products. Definitely made my Prime Day
The camera is decent, but I find that my iPhone takes better photos. I think I need to experiment with the camera settings on my Samsung Fold, specifically adjusting the 12MP or 50MP settings for the photos. The only challenging part has been finding a good phone case. I bought one that has an S Pen holder on the side, but I wouldn't recommend it, as it makes the phone hard to grip.
Overall, I'm really enjoying this new phone!
And that's exactly what came on the phone I know how to check the memory? I'm very tech-savvy. And it has exactly the amount of gigabytes of memory that was described, so you're not getting dipped out when you pay for that amount of gigabytes, I do recommend getting cases that protect the hinge, and maybe a couple of screen protectors. But it's a sturdy phone. It's not as thick and Chunky as everybody was making, it seem to me is perfect. Um, the screen on the closed side when you close. It it's small Your keyboard is small, but thanks to me already having a phone that was smaller than this, the blue pro. What's smaller than this, especially the keyboard I'm so used to I barely even notice it. Videos for a great I love how I can multi-task. I can have 2 windows open at 1 time side by side or top and bottom. The S Pen works on the inside tablet mode and some work on the outside. It just depends. I know a lot of people are saying that the S Pen doesn't work on the outside. When the front screen went is closed, but I found some of the cases that I bought, that have S Pen that come when it do work. On the front screen, so I don't know, that's a little touching goal just depends like I said, it's a beautiful phone. He plays games. Great, you face video's great. This sound is great, it does have dual SIM. My service is great because of this phone. There's no problem sending videos and other stuff, and I've just touched the iceberg of using his following. When I get more time off and they're not so tired. I will explore even more and review. It does come with the SIM trajector a power cable. You have to have your own box, which is no problem. Yeah, Samsung box will work. I do miss the days when they came with headphones. But singers are already hit our own pair of Bluetooth headphones that does not take away from the Sound itself. I totally recommend this, and my twin is getting one as well. So like I said, it's a beautiful phone. This is a great deal for a great price for the amount of gigabytes that is on this phone
Overall:
An amazingly powerful phone that's fast, fun, unique, powerful, and has very few downsides compared to a 'regular' slab phone.
Look and feel:
I think it looks incredible, both the designs and the screen. It feels a little heavy when closed, but almost like magic it feels very lightweight when open due to the large screen size. The front screen is thin and tall, but I actually enjoy that because it's easy to type one-handed. The screens are extremely bright and at the right angle the crease on the inner screen virtually disappears.
Performance:
This thing is FAST! No lag, very smooth (I changed my animations to 0.5x in developer settings to make it feel snappier).
Battery:
Better than expected. I'm getting more hours out of this than my S22 Ultra, even though I'm using this phone more and often have it open to use the large screen.
Cameras:
Overall, it takes good pictures. The one area where it doesn't keep up with other flagship Samsung phones is the zoom. If you're coming from any phone 2+ years old, it'll probably still be an overall upgrade.
Features:
Way more than any other phone that I'm aware of. Samsung's ecosystem is now bigger and better than Apple's in my opinion, it works great with Windows, it makes excellent use of the large inner screen, the S pen is very handy, the fingerprint scanner works great, etc. etc.
Surprises:
I don't like the inner camera that 'disappears' when you're not using it. I think the pixelation over the small cutout is more distracting than if it were just a cutout. Luckily, this can be turned off in the Goodlock app.
The fingerprint scanner works great, and I actually thought I'd like the location better, but I think I prefer the under-display scanner on the S22 Ultra in terms of location vs the power button.
The weight doesn't bother me, and it often feels smaller in my pocket even though it's thicker than most phones.
Wireless charging still works well with the S pen case, which is great!
Great deal
Connectivity, battery life, camera and sound quality, functionality are GREAT!
In hindsight, I would have preferred the 512GB version, for the extra storage...which is currently selling for less.
The initial impressions of the new model Z Fold 6 is WOW! It's pretty fast, the multiple screens are great, and I was planning to get a tablet but no longer need to thanks to the size of the folder. I'm still setting up the phone's configuration, and service. So, I will have updates as they materialize. I will be testing with eSIM and standard SIM. And hotspot WiFi operations. As a photographer, I'm excited with the powerful photo camera features of this model.
The form factor is excellent. How thin it is folded is impressive. The hinge is much improved to be more rigid and strong. But a protective case must be acquired for it. The next gen Z Fold 6 is a recommend and thumbs up! But go for the 512GB model.
I’m approaching my review of the Z Fold 6 as someone who has never been an upgrade-every-one-to-two-years kind of person. No, the phone I had before this one was the well beloved Samsung Galaxy S10, released in 2019. Typically, when I like a phone, I will use it until it dies. And believe me, the S10 did not look like it was going to kick the bucket for quite some time. But when I saw how the photo quality stacks up against other competitors out there, I had to make the leap of faith and try out the latest and greatest from the South Korean brand.
The Z Fold 6 is an absolute marvel! From its tall, yet slender front screen to its impressive hinge and barely noticeable center crease in the main foldable display, it oozes premium. And I love the color of my Navy blue. The outer display (also called the cover screen) sports an impressive 120Hz AMOLED display that really had me speechless at how buttery smooth scrolling was on the device, even in direct sunlight with its 2,600 nits brightness.
The main display was a delight to try out over the past month. From the improved productivity to enjoying shows and YouTube videos on a larger display, I can definitely appreciate having a phone with an enlarge-as-you-please display handy.
Foldable screen helps to open many apps and functions.
The battery lasts all day, even with heavy use. And it charges super fast, so I'm never left waiting. This phone is absolutely fantastic!!!
Enjoy the larger screen for selected apps and photos.
